In January we had Oscar and Grammy Award Winning recording artists Three 6 Mafia perform in Las Vegas during the Affiliate Summit West for over 1500 invited guests at the Crown Theater.  I never thought I’d see so many industry people get up on stage with Three 6 and rock out all night long.  We chose Three 6 because they have a bit of an edge to them, they’re still very hot with the younger and “not so young” crowd.  I guess we wanted to come out hard and show this industry a wild party.  Mission accomplished.

Next stop was Ad Tech in San Francisco.  We decided to create a new brand for Ad Tech called the Marketers Ball.  If you’re going to blow away the largest digital marketing trade show of the year then you need to know your audience.  Let’s see, a party in the Bay area…    How about Too Short and Digital Underground?  Why stop there?  We also had a quintet called, “Shotgun Wedding Quintent – Jazz Mafia”.  Not only did they warm up the crowd, they backed Digital Underground with a very special jazz/funk remix set of Digital Underground classics!  Oh yeah, another 1500 plus people came and had the time of their lives.

Then it was back to another Affiliate Summit, New York City.  Did I say something about know your audience?  My guess is that at least 50% of that show was from New York so we brought in New York and hip hop legends, Doug E Fresh, Kurtis Blow, UTFO, Grandmaster Caz, Kangol Kid and more!  It was so hot even TMZ had a 5 minute clip up on their site.  That’s right, an industry only event, broadcasted to rest of the world to eat their hearts out.  About 2,000 invited guests from the Summit were there to enjoy.  In our 13 plus years throwing these events, this one was up there with our best.  We’ve had Snoop, we’ve had Cube and so many other huge name artists but we’ve never had an old school legendary night like this.  It was like watching a VH-1 Honors show, amazing.

3 days later, still in New York it was time to change things up a bit.  Leadscon is very cool show.  It’s a smaller show, very serious about networking and doing deals.  We decided to have a networking event with the Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra performing softly in the background.  Performing serious rock tunes with their strings, Nirvana, Strokes and some current radio pop hits.  Sounded very classy and sophisticated.  Immediately following was the worlds greatest mentalist, Keith Barry.  With the help of Leadscon and their sponsors, we flew him in from Ireland just to blow everyone away.  We sat over half of the crowd theater style as Keith had industry leaders join him on stage.  He knew their computer passwords, names of their first pet tons more.  See, I’m not all about hip hop.

Next up, looking to throw an Affiliate Ball at Ad Tech on November 9th.  We might tap into Blog World in November as well and we’ll certainly return to Vegas in January 9th for the Affiliate Summit.  Stay tuned!
